Ellen Perry

Ellen Perry is an award-winning film director, writer, producer and cinematographer. After attending the USC School of Cinematic Arts, she honed her craft all over the globe, making films in China, Japan, England, France, Turkey and South America.

Her critically acclaimed feature Will stars Golden Globe winners Damian Lewis and Bob Hoskins, and boasts rare cameos by football legends Steven Gerrard, Kenny Dalglish and Jamie Carragher. Ellen co-wrote, produced and directed this heart-warming underdog tale.

In making Will, Ellen secured the participation of the legendary Liverpool Football Club, one of the planet's largest entertainment brands, raised the entire budget, and oversaw the production in three countries; the co-production between Great Britain and Turkey was the first of its kind. Will won the coveted Audience Award at the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam, the largest children's film festival in the world; and won Best Feature Film at the prestigious European Youth Film Festival in Belgium. Will is distributed by Sony Pictures International.

Her widely acclaimed feature documentary, The Fall of Fujimori, explores the controversial Peruvian president, Alberto Fujimori. On Interpol's Most Wanted List, Fujimori was in exile in Tokyo when Ellen conducted a series of lengthy face-to-face interviews. These provocative confessions prompted New York Times critic A.O. Scott to call Fujimori "brilliant, revelatory and entertaining." Fujimori premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Nominated for an Emmy for Best Feature Documentary, and by the Writers Guild of America for Best Documentary Screenplay, Fujimori was an official selection at over 30 film festivals worldwide. It was also awarded the prestigious CINE Golden Eagle.

Ellen’s first feature documentary, Great Wall Across The Yangtze, aired nationally on PBS. Narrated by Martin Sheen, the critically acclaimed film tells the story of the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest under construction on the Yangtze River in China. Special screenings were held at the Woodrow Wilson Center in D.C. and the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Ellen has numerous film and TV projects in development including an epic, period piece on Beethoven called Ode To Joy. A dolphin animation film entitled, Chee Chee, based on award-winning Great Wall, and a South American political thriller, King Teardrop, based on her acclaimed documentary The Fall of Fujimori.

Her TV projects include a limited TV series, Delta Blues, exploring the origins of the Blues through, W.C. Handy, and a primetime network series, Gold Coast, set in San Francisco's billionaire's row.
